Treatments

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a time-tested, safe, natural and drug-free health care system that can provide immediate relief and long-lasting benefits. It is relatively painless and most people find the treatments very relaxing.

Acupuncture is safe and effective for people of all ages regardless of their stage of life.

For children, acupressure is often used but acupuncture itself may be used to quickly resolve symptoms such as high fever, sore throat and digestive disorders. Either acupuncture or acupressure may be used for pain, digestive issues, poor sleep, poor physical and/ or mental development and much more. Kids respond very well to treatment and the needling is done quickly.

Chinese Medicine

Chinese Medicine is a holistic medical system that has been practised in Asia for more than 3000 years. It uses a unique whole body approach to health care.

Chinese Medicine aims to identify the root cause of symptoms and disease and treat the overall body pattern. For this reason Chinese medicine can be effectively applied to treat a wide variety of health concerns.

I assess my patient during an in-depth consultation and determine where the imbalance in the body’s organs and meridian energy system is originating, then uses the appropriate therapeutic modality to restore the balance.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle and very relaxing form of bodywork.

The Craniosacral system consists of the membranes and fluids that surround the central nervous system from the cranium (skull), to the sacrum (tailbone) as well as interconnected membranes throughout the body.

Any type of imbalance or restriction in these areas can lead to a variety of sensory, motor, or neurological dysfunctions in the body.

It involves very gentle manipulation for remedying distortions in the structure and function throughout the systems.

A practitioner is able to “listen” with their hands to what is called the cranial rhythm, which runs throughout our bodies and helps guide to areas of disfunction or health.

What can it treat?

CST can help a wide range of ailments such as headaches and migraines, pain syndromes, TMJ, stress, emotional issues, insomnia, etc. It works by supporting the body’s ability to free up restrictions and heal from physical or emotional traumas that may have occurred anywhere in the body.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine aims to eliminate the root of a disease rather than just its symptoms, thus achieving a state that is truly disease free. These medicinals help stimulate the body’s and mind’s natural healing potential and balances the body’s systems for lasting wellness. The herbs can be successfully used to treat a very wide range of conditions which include:

Gastrointestinal disorders, skin diseases, Gynecological conditions, fatigue, rheumatological and pain conditions, respiratory conditions, psychological conditions, allergies and more.

Used correctly, herbs are safe for children, during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, before and after surgery, for the young and old.

Massage, Acupressure and Cupping

Gabrielle Steinberg blends Eastern and Western styles of massage and has offered massage treatments for almost 2 decades.

A blend of Shiatsu acupressure, cupping, Chinese massage (tui na) , deep tissue, cranio sacral therapy and more allows for improved circulation and your body, muscles and nervous system to deeply relax and heal.

Nutrition and Lifestyle Counselling

Mainstream medicine does not emphasize the significance of poor nutrition as a major cause of a wide range of health disorders. Although most people are aware of the benefits of sound nutrition, the range of conflicting information available to the consumer is often confusing.   I believe each individual has personal needs when it comes to food and nutrition.  We will together work at discovering food options that  you digest with ease and support you to feel well.

Sometimes you may not be sure what lifestyle choices will help increase and maintain good health.  Whether it be an exercise or stretching plan, meditation, self care ideas, stress management or other concern, we will find things you can easily do in your daily life that will make you feel happier and healthier, help increase your energy and focus and give you more ease in body and mind.

Breathwork

Breath is life. When we stop breathing we no longer live.

The breath has powerful effects on our physical, emotional and mental state.

Breath can be a gauge of life force and it is the only autonomous bodily function that we can control. The breath moves through our body from birth until death and we inhale and exhale approximately 20,000 times per day so cultivating our ability to breathe consciously, with control as needed is very powerful and healing. With so much tied up in our breath – and the simple gift of being able to work with this most potent of autonomic functions – it’s worth exploring the benefits of conscious breathing.

If you’ve ever been stressed or anxious, the first thing that deserts you is the breath, your chest tightens and as the lack of oxygen hits your body, your anxiety increases. Simply breathing deeply a few times can shift our perspective and ability to cope with the stress. The quality and quantity of energy and the way it flows through the physical and subtle bodies, has the ability to enhance or inhibit well-being. The oxygen that is provided to all the organs and cells of the body comes through the humble breath.

I can guide you with techniques to breathe in ways that can help your overall health, increase relaxation and reduce stress, as well as some techniques to reconnect with your inner self and to break through potential emotional blocks impeding your health and more.

  • 5 star review  Great space and lovely location- easy to get to. I cannot recommend Gabrielle for Acupuncture and Edysha for massage , enough. They are very warm, skilled and intuitive practitioners. Gabrielle works through a variety of approaches to help you find relief and makes you feel at ease during the session. She sees the whole person not just the specific issue and the results are almost immediate and long lasting. Edysha's trigger point massage gets right to the heart of any issue and helped me relieve some chronic low back pain. Best practitioners I have found in Vancouver. Reception staff is lovely and booking process is smooth as well !

  • 5 star review  I have received 3 acupuncture sessions from Gabrielle and I plan on continuing my services. I think Gabrielle is a very non-judgmental and kind therapist with a positive attitude. She endeavours to keep me relaxed and at ease while putting in the needles and I appreciate the little massage she offers before and after the needle application to relax the areas where the needles are put in. Thank you Gabrielle!
